Introduction To Dancewear by Charades Dancewear

When starting dance, it is important to wear the correct shoes and dancewear to really enjoy and make the most of your class. There is a wide range of shoes and garments available for each style of Dance, here are a few guidelines:

Ballet

The most important part of a ballet dancers outfit is the shoes. Beginners wear soft shoes in leather or satin, which need to be carefully fitted.

Some dance schools require a uniform - otherwise a basic leotard, perhaps a skirt and tights or socks will suffice.

Our knowledgable staff will be happy to advise.

Tap

It is impossible to do tap dancing without tap shoes. Beginners wear low heeled shoes, usually in black or white, with room to grow if possible.

A uniform may be required, otherwise a leotard, leggings or flared jazz trousers may be worn.

Modern

Modern dance requires soft supportive shoes. Jazz shoes are usually worn by younger dancers. More recently jazz sneakers have become very popular.

A full range of all styles are carried in store.
